Simple Inspiration: Natalie Joos

Morning All. Home again after a lovely week visiting family. We are enjoying discovering Northern Ireland, exploring the coast line, parks and cafes. On our last day we went to an eclectic and inspiring restaurant near the City Hall in Belfast called Made in Belfast. It was down an alley near some fashionable boutiques and I loved the decor and food, it was a mix of influences both home grown, industrial style with delicious rustic salads and meats, as well as international flavours, French decor, New York cocktail bar style and European confidence. I love to be inspired by places as much as by people.

The strong decor and lively use of colour and texture reminded me of one of my favourite style icons, Natalie Joos.  I think of her as a real life Carrie Bradshaw, mixing styles and eras with a real confidence and flair. These kind of people always push my own expectations of what works and doesn't work, and reinforces the idea that it's not what you wear, but how you wear it.

So in the spirit of eclectic style and wearing colour with confidence here are a few pieces to inspire you. If you're not one for clashing colours and textures try one bold piece with something more subdued, perhaps tailored and neutral, otherwise; go for it. Mix and match some of your own pieces you wouldn't normally, just as in our home I'll be mixing periods and influences and making a statement with accessories perhaps.

1. Clutch bag, Miss Selfridge
2. Suede shoes, LK Bennett
3. Floral skirt, Avoca
4. Cord trousers, Cos
5. Print dress, Whistles
6. T-shirt dress, Top Shop
7. Sunglasses, ASOS

Where do you get your style influence? Is there a certain person who inspired you?
