Simple Style Updates: Pretty Pleats for Spring

Monday morning here at the Style Notebook, hope you had a great weekend. The clocks went forward here in the UK and the weather was kind. The sun shone and it felt once again like we might be finally heading into Spring. So today a simple update for your wardrobe perfect for the changing seasons.

There were lots of pretty pleats on the catwalks for spring from designers like Dries Van Noten, Rochas and Victoria Beckham, these have naturally filtered down to the high street and there's some really great pieces to choose from whether you prefer the more structured box pleats or soft flowing pleats like these. I think the hard edged pleats are more difficult to wear, although it's definitely a more directional, designer look. I'm leaning to something easier and more forgiving, the simplest being the pleated smock dress like this one from &Other Stories.

These don't feel like statement pieces but I'd still keep the other separates simple and pared down; flat sandals rather than heels, relaxed t-shirt rather than a formal shirt, casual trousers or jeans rather rather than tailored trousers.
