Simply Shopping: Prints Dresses

Mid-week already, hope you're well.

We've had a lovely invite to a special summer event, I won't divulge too much for fear it doesn't happen, but needless to say I have to buy a new dress and a hat [no, not a wedding!], let me stress, a fabulous dress!

I'm going for pretty, feminine, a little nod to retro style and a big wink to vintage glamour. So I have bought too pretty printed vintage dresses that will hopefully make an appearance in a future blog post too. Both fitted, with graphic prints in that seventies DVF style. This is an exercise in expressing my inner Carrie Bradshaw - bold colour and fun details. The only catch being that they need some clever alterations. The problem with the fit on vintage dresses is they are often quite boxy on the shoulders, loose around the waist and sleeves, so they need lots of snug fitting to create a more modern line. But the biggest bonus is that they are one-offs, no-one else will be seen in the same style and for a fraction of a designer price-tag. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they will look the part come the big day.

Have you got any special parties or events you're planning for this summer? Maybe a holiday or a special date? An evening out with family? Here are some ideas of great dresses on the high street that would definitely work for a fabulous summer party.
